2015: GROUP PLEADS WITH ATIKU, BUHARI TO STEP ASIDE •ENDORSES KWANKWASO/AMAECHI JOINT PRESIDENTIAL TICKET

Date:

A group, APC New Generation Initiative, yesterday in Kano endorsed Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and his Rivers State counterpart, Rotimi Amaechi as Presidential flag bearer and running mate respectively for the forthcoming 2015 Presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). After its meeting in Port Harcourt, the group in a statement, disclosed that there have been consultations after the emergence of new leaders, who have demonstrated their abilities and have what it takes to pilot the nation to
greater heights. A statement jointly signed by the coordinator, Mallam Balarabe Rufai, and the Secretary, John Nwakanma, explained that the adoption of Kwankwaso and Amaechi was in consonance with the agitation of new leaders to replace aging politicians, like General Mohammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar, who had contributed immensely to the development of the country and need to step aside.
However, the group acknowledged the leadership of the APC and resolved to collaborate, with whoever that clinches the Presidential ticket of the APC. It should however be recalled that for quite some time, Kwankwaso has been and still nursing the ambition to contest for the Presidential seat on the platform of the APC. The latest
development has however put an end to speculations that Kwankwaso is still engaged in nationwide consultations over his Presidential ambition. Also, it would be recalled that Kwankwaso’s Presidential posters were pasted in strategic locations within Kano metropolis and beyond.
