The United States Institute of Peace has denied reports that it predicted a victory for All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential election.
The top U.S organisation disclosed this in a statement on their website on Tuesday, November 6, while reacting to news circulating that it predicted a win for the incumbent president.
USIP said it is not in their line to make predictions about election outcomes and has not done so in the case of Nigeria.
“The erroneous news accounts misrepresent USIP’s recent 20-page report on the risks to a peaceful 2019 election in Nigeria,” USIP said in the statement.
