The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Diocese of Lagos, on Monday presented a Special Episcopal Award to Ambode for his impact in the past four years in office.
Speaking while presenting the award to the governor at the 34th Diocesan Synod held at the Our Saviour’s Church, Onikan, Lagos, the Diocesan Bishop of Lagos, Rt. Rev. Humphrey Olumakaiye, described the governor as an “administrator with a patriotic drive who, through hard work and grace, rose to become distinguished among his peers.”
According to a statement, Ambode thanked the church for the award and the support for him by religious leaders, which he said was responsible for the peace in the state.
“As our administration makes way for another, I ask for your continued support and prayers for the incoming government of the governor-elect, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu,” the governor said.
The statement added that the 2019 synod with the theme, ‘The Unfailing Faith of Our Fathers: Ever Sufficient,’ coincided with the centennial anniversary of the establishment of the Lagos Diocese.
