Bashir Tofa, the presidential candidate of the defunct  National
Republican Convention  (NRC) in the 1993 presidential election has said
that any issue on the June 12 presidential election is a dead affair, saying
June 12 presidential election died 20 years ago.
A few days to the anniversary of the June 12 presidential in
which the late Chief MKO Abiola contested on the platform of the defunct Social
Democratic Party (SDP) alongside Tofa, he said it was no longer an issue to
discuss.
The June 12 election was annuled by former military president,
General Ibrahim Babangida.

“We should resolve to talk about issues that would be beneficial
to the teeming masses of the country, rather than focus on a friction that
cannot enhance the socio-economic and political development of the country.
“It is those who don’t have anything to offer this country with
regard to moving it forward that can still be talking about the June 12
presidential election
“I am not one of those people that is why I don’t like
talking about the June 12 presidential election.”
He added that  “if you have learnt a lesson from it good,
but if you have not, keep quiet, let this country make progress. For someone to
still be talking about something that happened about 20 years ago, is to talk
about  fiction.
“We have more problems than to be talking about this nonsense,
we want this country to survive and people are still talking about June 12 .”
