MORE HEZOBOLLAH ARMS FOUND IN KANO

THE last may not have been
heard about the discovery of arms and ammunition from the hideout of suspected
Hezbollah terrorists in the country, as security operatives in Kano yesterday
made new discoveries. 

The weapons were
uncovered at No 3 Gaya Road, Bompai area in Kano metropolis where a bunker
stocked with Hezbollah armoury was fished out recently leading to the arrest of
three Lebanese nationals. 

The discovery was
contained in a statement by the spokesman of the 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army,
Captain Ikedichi Iweha made available to the Nigerian Compass yesterday. It
disclosed that a further search of the bungalow led to another astonishing
discovery of dangerous weapons buried under a wardrobe.

 According to the
statement, “after painstaking search of the whole premises, the search team
uncovered an underground bunker in the master bed room where a large quantity
of assorted weapons of different types and calibre and ammunition which were
properly wrapped was recovered.  

“On further search
of the property, a cooler was recovered buried under the wardrobe which had in
it, 80 indicators, 5 PPK pistols, 334 rds (rounds) of 7.62mm special, 9
magazines, 4 pistol silencers, 18  36 hand grenades caps, 4 explosive
fuses and 2 explosive devices.”   

 It recalled
that on 28 May 13, a combined team of security operatives conducted a thorough
search of the house said to belong to one Abdul Hassan Taher Fadlalla, a
Lebanese who is currently out of the country.

 “We continue
to count on the support and cooperation of the good people of Kano in the
effective discharge of our duties while we assure you of our utmost commitment
in ensuring that peace and an atmosphere suitable for business continue to
prevail,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, the
special Joint Task Force deplored to Yobe state disclosed yesterday that it had
arrested 49 suspected Boko Haram terrorists from various locations and
communities,  following a tip off by residents in the various communities.

Reports says during
the operation weapons including AK 47 rifles, locally made pistol and
ammunition were recovered by the troops in Rugan Fulani, Arikimen, Afganiistan
and Ngandu villages.

According to a
statement issued from the office of the Director of Defence Information,
Brigadier General Olukolade, the various operational camps of the terrorists
were dislodged, as some of the insurgents fled to neighbouring Niger Republic.

It was also
gathered that though, some criminals in the areas have resorted to brigandage,
robbery and assassination of members of the public, the statement enjoined all
law abiding citizens to remain calm as the Joint Task Force including the
antibomb squad are working round the clock to checkmate the nefarious
activities of the terrorists. 

It urged citizens
in the area to volunteer information on the activities of terrorist groups to
rid the state of insurgents.
