PHOTOS of the Damage Caused By Flooded River Niger In Lokoja

According to the Minister of Works, Mike Onolememen,
the flooding was as a result of water released from Cameroon Lagdo Dam about
two weeks ago
Today  the flood has virtually cut off the Northern
part of the country from the rest of the country a situation the minister
described as the worst in 100 years.  A
lot of small villages in Lokoja axis stand wiped out due to the development if
nothing is done. Already many has died and  thousands rendered homeless while movement has
become impossible.

The Federal Ministry of works announced yesterday that work has been completed on
the Lokoja-Abuja by-pass and will be open today.
