The Anioma Media Professionals (AMP) has congratulated Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu on his recent appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari as Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
The group has also lauded the President for putting competence and merit above other considerations in making the appointment, saying this would help drive the federal government’s change agenda and bring sanity to governance and government-owned institutions.
The group made this declaration through a statement in Lagos, signed by its spokesman, Ken Ugbechie, on Friday, August 7, 2015.
AMP, which is made up of media professionals from Delta North Senatorial District of Delta State, otherwise called Anioma, charged Kachikwu to bring his wealth of experience in the oil and gas sector to bear in the state-owned company, which has been dogged by allegations of corruption.
The Anioma professionals described Kachikwu’s appointment as apt and well deserved, just as they charged the new NNPC boss to ensure accountability, due process and transparency in the corporation, in line with Buhari’s anti-corruption campaign.
AMP also urged Kachikwu to be steadfast, fair and firm in his duty, and move towards normalising the supply of petroleum products in the country.
