POLICE REDEPLOY 36 COMMISSIONERS

The Police Service Commission has approved the redeployment of 37 Police Commissioners to State Commands and the Federal Capital Territory.

The commission, in a statement on Wednesday by its spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, said the posting was  in line with Section 215 of the 1999 Constitution, which empowered it to appoint officers to states as CPs.

Affected by the exercise were the Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu, who has been deployed to Kogi State and Ikechukwu Nwodibo, who was posted to Taraba State.

Others include  J. Habila,  Abia; Adejo Adaji, Adamawa; Murtala Mani, Akwa Ibom; Karma Hosea, Anambra; Mohammed Mohmmed, Bauchi; P. Okafor,   Bayelsa; Dibai  Yakadi, Benue; J. Opadokun, Borno; Henry Fadairo, Cross River and Usman Alkali, Delta State.

The deployment also affected P. Abdallah, Ebonyi; Chris Ezike,  Edo; Etop  James Ekiti; Mohammed Adamu, Enugu; Austin Iwar, Gombe; T. Lakanu, Imo; Tilli Abubakar, Jigawa; U. Shehu Kaduna and M. Katsina, Kano.

Others were U. Abdullahi, Katsina;  Yakubu Jubrin, Kebbi; E. Amadasun,  Kwara; Fatai Owoseni, Lagos; Mohammed Usman,  Nasarawa; Abubakar Marafa, Niger;  Abdulmajid Ali, Ogun; M. Ogbodu, Ondo; K. Shodipo,   Osun; Leye Oyebade,  Oyo; Nasiru Oki, Plateau; Hyelasinda  Musa, Rivers; Salisu Abdullahi, Sokoto; Zanna Ibrahim, Yobe and Femi Ogunbayode, Zamfara state.

Wilson Inalegwu retains his position as FCT CP.

The Chairman of the Commission, Mike  Okiro, said the redeployment was to reinvigorate the State Commands for more effective and efficient policing “in line with the Change Agenda of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.”

He advised the CPs to take their jobs seriously and ensure that they were committed to the enforcement of law and order and protection of lives and property within the ambit of the rule of law.

He wished them success in their new endeavours.
