Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory [FCT], Dr. Aliyu Modibbo Umar, Danburam Gombe, has disowned a posting that went viral on the social media last week criticizing President Muhammadu Buhari’s choice of ministers.

In a statement he issued yesterday, Modibbo said, “My attention has been drawn to an article published in an online newspaper purportedly written by one H. Aliyu Modibbo, criticising ministerial appointments by President Muhammadu Buhari as well as hurling insults on some highly respected Nigerians. Disturbingly, due to the very close resemblance of the purported author’s name to mine, a lot of people have called to draw my attention to this childish publication, with some wondering why my name should be associated with such a reprehensible thing.
“I hereby state that it is not my own name or person and i completely distance myself from that puerile write up.” He said the article was the work of mischief makers and no one who knows him will believe that he could author such a puerile article. The ex-minister said, “I seize this opportunity to express my deep satisfaction with the selection of ministers, a lot of who are friends that I hold in very high esteem.”
The article in question, written by Modibbo H. Aliyu and titled “PMB must hear this” alleged among other things that the president and his nephew Malam Mamman Daura used selfish and nepotistic criteria in making many appointments  including those of ministers, chief of staff and managing director of AMCON.
