Senate President Bukola Saraki yesterday said he was yet to reply former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s letter on corruption allegation against the National Assembly.
Obasanjo had last week written Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara accusing the federal lawmakers of corruption.
Saraki was quoted to have replied the former president while speaking during an interview last week Tuesday. But a statement by his media aide, Yusuph Olaniyonu said he is yet to reply.
“In fact his position that mistakes have been made by all of us in the past was a reference to all stakeholders like political office holders, the media, civil society, professional and business groups, among others,” the statement said.
He said the Senate president will like to maintain his earlier position that he will only write a formal letter to President Obasanjo to explain all the efforts the 8th Senate was making to address some of the issues raised in the letter.
Olaniyonu said the Senate President will not use any public event or the media to give any direct or indirect response to the legitimate points raised by the elder statesman and father of the nation.
