A four-man team from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has arrived Nigeria to commence the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP) which begins today.
The General Manager (Public Relations) of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Mr. Sam Adurogboye, confirmed the arrival of the team in a statement yesterday.
A similar audit was conducted between June 1 and 9, 2015 where the country scored over 93 per cent. However, ICAO had identified some gaps in the sector which formed the basis of this week’s audit.
Relevant authorities including NCAA and FAAN have expressed readiness for the audit
which is expected to end on March 25. Areas to be inspected by the auditors according to the NCAA spokesman include legislation, organisation, accident and incident investigation, air navigational services (ANS) and aerodrome & ground aids (AGA).
