Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has expressed dismay over the position of the Ohaneze Ndigbo in discouraging the Igbo against aspiring for the presidency.
Okorocha bared his mind yesterday when he played host to the Enugu Zonal Director and management team of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Enugu Zone in government house, Owerri.
He said: “Nigeria as a nation belongs to all Nigerians and I wonder why Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo should champion the course of discouraging the Igbo man against aspiring for the highest position in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
The governor also expressed shock over what he described as the lack of confidence among the Igbos in aspiring for the position of the president of Nigeria.
He used the occasion to call on the Igbos to brace up and support any of their own aspiring for the presidency while assuring the Enugu Zonal director of the support of government.
He challenged FRCN stations to pursue the goal of uplifting the people and uniting the nation by being objective in their reportage and regretted that FRCN has failed to give elaborate report on the abandoned Imo axis of the Port-Harcourt –Owerri road which poses great danger to motorists plying it.
The Enugu Zonal Director, FRCN, Mr. Chigozie Obialor, said they were in Owerri to hold their 3rd and 4th annual conference.
Obialor thanked the governor for providing the radio station conducive atmosphere for operation in Owerri and requested for an operation vehicle for the station.
