There is indication that the Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime might have decided to further literally cripple the impeached Deputy Governor, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi “to render him totally demobilised, paralised and frustrated”, according to one of Onyebuchi’s aides.

This speculation followed the ‘invasion’ today (Wednesday) of Onyebuchi’s private residence at the G.R.A., off Abakaliki Road Enugu by heavily armed security operatives said to be led by the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to Governor Chime, Mr. Fidelis Ogarabe who were reportedly ordered by Chime to recover all the official vehicles attached to Onyebuchi’s office since elected into office in 2007.
The impeached deputy governor was said to have travelled during the operation that lasted for some time inside his residence, our reporter was informed.
It was also gathered that the moves were to incapacitate Onyebuchi from running for the Enugu East Senatorial election which he is aspiring to contest in 2015.
Daily Trust was informed that cries and appeals by the few private aides to Onyebuchi for the the security men to restrain from their act on the ground that their boss, Onyebuchi, was not in at the material time, however, fell on deaf ears. The security operatives were said to have barked at the aides and eventually took away all the six vehicles at about 2.40pm today.
The vehicles included two Hilux vans and four Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV), according to the aide, who added that when they (aides) contacted Onyebuchi on the development, “ oga advised us to allow them carry any vehicle they (security operatives) wanted to take away instead of engaging in whatever might cause spill of any one’s blood.”
Also, two 406 Peugeot cars, which Onyebuchi inherited from the former Governor Chimaroke Nnamani government when he served as Commissioner for Works, were among the vehicles taken away by the security operatives.
Daily Trust recalls that Onyebuchi’s official security was withdrawn shortly after his impeachment on Tuesday.
Onyebuchi, was finally impeached on Tuesday, following the unanimous decision of the State House of Assembly to impeach him for alleged misconduct concerning his operation of a poultry at his official residence and refusal to represent Governor Sullivan Chime on two functions.
Onyebuchi was impeached by the 24-member State Assembly which adopted the report of the 7-man impeachment panel which investigated the allegations of misconduct leveled against him.
The legislators relied on Section 188 Sub-section 9 of the Nigerian Constitution which deals with the issue of removal of the Governor or the Deputy Governor at a session convened yesterday to debate the report of the Franklyn Uche Oraekeiyi-led panel submitted to it on Monday.
