APC SWEEPS KANO LG POLLS

Date:

…It’s a fraud –Shekarau
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all the 44 local government chairmanship and the 484 councillorship positions contested for in last Saturday’s elections.
Announcing the result yesterday, the chairman of the state Independent Electoral Commission Dr. Sani Lawal Malumfashi said the APC won all the seats contested for based on the result declared by the returning officers at various levels.
“The election had been largely successful and peaceful. APC won all the 44 chairmanship and 484 councillorship posts as declared by the returning officers. The success is the collective success of the people of Kano state,” he said.
However in his swift reaction, former governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau described the result as a fraud.
“The result announced was a concoction because there was no election. The APC used political thugs to intimidated, harassed and unleashed terror on our supporters,” he said.
While calling on the supporters of the PDP to remain calm, he said they would drag the state electoral body to the election tribunal in order to seek redress.
According to him, the state electoral body created false alarm of circulation of fake ballot papers on Friday in order to cover up their mischief.
He called on the state governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to cancel the election.
