It further showcased one AK-47 rifle, 10 locally made guns, 98 live cartridges and other exhibits as well as a recovered Nissan Pathfinder. One of the criminals that were paraded was a 60-year-old man who allegedly defiled a nine-year-old girl (name withheld).
The suspect, Pa Benjamin Amadin, resides at Orobator Street in Benin City. The incident that finally nailed him allegedly occurred on January 3, 2014 and involved the girl whose parents live in the same compound with Amadin.
The mother raised the alarm after the deed was discovered, leading to the arrest and detention of the suspect. In another case of child rape and sexual assault, 42-year-old Peter Omoregbe allegedly had carnal knowledge of another nine year-old girl right on the bed he shares with his wife.
The man, who is a step-father of the victim, allegedly threatened to deal with the little girl if she dared to tell her mother. But the beans spilled quite unexpectedly when the girl’s mother discovered blood stains on her pants when she was washing her clothes and, thereafter, questioned her. The suspect was promptly arrested and detained by the police after the incident was reported.
In another case in Irrua, in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State, on January 3, 2014, a 37-year-old man, Mr. Sunny David, allegedly defiled the innocence of a 3-year-old girl. He had successfully covered up his crimes until when the girl woke up from sleep.
The little girl could neither walk properly nor ease herself easily, leading to a thorough examination that revealed blood stains in her vagina. Upon a serious interrogation, the little girl pointed to the neighbour and showed all what he did to her. In another case that occurred in Ekiadolor in Ovia South West Local Government Area, 20-year-old Osaro Isa reportedly dragged an 11- year-old girl into his room and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
The suspect was promptly arrested after a report was made of the crime by the victim. In yet another of the few reported cases of rape and sexual assault of children in Edo State, two teenagers and brothers of same parents: Masters ThankGod Abada (aged 17 years) and Moses Abada (aged 15 years), allegedly forced an 11-year-old girl into a shop along Saint Saviour Road in Benin and raped her repeatedly. They were subsequently arrested before they later made confession to the crime under police detention.
The case of the suspected brother-rapists is not different from that of another teenager, 19-year-old Ibrahim Akpobore, who forcefully raped another 11-year-old girl in a farm where they were sent to harvest cassava tubers. But the goriest of the cases on parade was that of a 33-year old paedophile, Mr. Justice Olise, who was arrested on New Year Day for sodomy of five different boys in his neighbourhood.
According to Edo State Police Commissioner, Olufunso Adebanjo, the accused person committed the crime over a period of time in his room at No. 20, Evbodaghe Street in Eyaen, an outskirt of Benin City.
The police boss gave the ages of the kids as 10, 11, 13, 14 and 15 years old and added that their parents reported the incidents. Asked why he chose these young boys for his sexual indulgence when he could have picked from an array of willing adults, Olise, a forklift operator with Coca-Cola Nigeria Plc in Benin City, who said he is a member of Christ Embassy Church, said, “I slept with the boys. But they are four boys not five as police claimed. I don’t know what came upon me.
Actually, my girlfriend left me some time last year when we had a misunderstanding. My girlfriend broke my heart when she jilted me. So, I decided to have sex with young boys.
But I am truly sorry. I am very ashamed of myself now,” he pleaded as he acknowledged the signing of Anti-Same Sex (Prohibition) Law by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Also featured in the roll-call of ignominy were Archibong Saviour, Ofeimu Luke, Okhualeigbe Ehikioya, Ekanem Effiong Nyakno, Effiong Udoh Emmanuel and Monday Samson.
The six kidnap suspects are alleged to collect huge sums of money as ransom from relatives of victims whom they also kill in cold blood sometimes.
According police spokesperson Adebanjo, “The suspects confessed to being responsible for the kidnapping and murder of Dr. Sunday Eruzegbua, a medical doctor working in Otibho Okhale Teaching Hospital in Irrua on November 29, 2013.
