The wife of Osun State governor, Alhaja Sherifat Aregbesola has lamented the wrong impression being created at certain quarters that her husband, Mr Rauf Aregbesola is working towards Islamising the state.
Interacting with journalists at Osogbo, Alhaja Aregbesola said she always felt sad whenever anybody accused her husband of bias in religion, adding that by virtue of her husband’s position, he is supposed to give equal opportunities to all religions which he has been doing since he assumed office.
Besides, the Osun first lady noted that Governor Aregbesola is surrounded by family members that are Christians, saying the immediate senior sister of the governor and his junior brothers are Christians.
According to her, most of the siblings of these family members spend quality periods with her family and Governor Aregbesola has never attempted to impose his religion on them, but rather he encourages them to practise their religion as expected.
She said, “I feel really sad each time anybody accuses my husband of religious bias, or attempting to force his religion on the people of the state, look, my husband though a devout Muslim has a lot of Christians surrounding him.
Many of his brothers and sisters are Christians and they enjoy themselves and practice their religion whenever they come calling without any interference.”
She equally expressed her husband’s readiness to embrace ideas that would promote the state, saying that it is wrong for anybody to tag him as being autocratic
