ABIKE-DABIRI SUES BANK, NEWSPAPER OVER ALLEGED N122M DEBT

Date:

Former member of the House of Representatives, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, on Thursday, filed a libel suit in Lagos High Court, against one of the new generation banks and a national daily, for allegedly publishing her name in the list of chronic debtors.

According to Dabiri-Erewa,  she filed the suit against the two organisations, demanding a retraction and an apology from them.

Tweeting via her twitter handle @abikedabiri, she said: “Just finished filing a suit against Diamond bank and Punch for labeling me a debtor . To claim damages, a retraction and an apology”

Recall that in an advertisement published by the bank in compliance with the Central Bank directive that bad debtors be exposed and shamed, it was said that Abike-Dabiri and a company identified as Thriller Endeavours owed it a chronic debt of N122 million.
