President Muhammadu Buhari and Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki met again yesterday at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The closed-door meeting, which took place inside the president’s office, lasted about one hour. It was the third time Buhari and Saraki held such meetings in recent times.
They had earlier met penultimate Friday and Wednesday this week. The Presidency did not disclose what they discussed, and the senate president left the Presidential Villa without speaking to newsmen.
But the meetings were believed to be part of moves to reach a truce over the president’s $29.9 billion loan request recently rejected by the senate.
The senate had last Tuesday turned down Buhari’s loan request, citing his failure to attach more details. Reports lately had it that the senate had also rejected the 2016-2018 Medium Term Expenditure Framework, alleging shoddy preparations.
