Former Chief Security Officer to General Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, who has just been released after 15 years in detention yesterday visited a former comptroller general of the Kirikiri prisons, Mr Iorbee Ihagh.
Iorbee had since retired from the services of the Nigerian prisons and is residing in Makurdi, the Benue state capital. He is an active member and major stakeholder of the newly registered All Progressives Congress (APC) in the agrarian state.
Yesterday, the entire Makurdimetropolis was agog as the released former security adviser stormed the food basket state. Members of prominent political parties including that of PDP and APC converged at the Agan toll gate located at the outskirts of the city to welcome him.
Al-Mustapha after being received at the Agan toll gate proceeded in a convoy to the private residence of the former prisons boss, situated at highbrow High level area of Makurdi.
However, Mr Iorbee yesterday told newsmen that he was incharge of the prisons when Al-Mustapha was serving his jail term and that “when the Army came requesting for the handover of the former security adviser, I insisted that a reproduction warrant must be produced just as it was done during the release of the son of General Abacha. That is why he is visiting me today in my house because he (Al-Mustapha) is very happy with me for what I did.”
