The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described Thursday’s confirmation of Amaechi’s nomination as minister of the federal government of Nigeria by the Senate as an indication of insincerity of the All Progressives Congress’ (APC’s) fight against corruption.

On the other hand, the National Caucus of the party, which met Thursday night in Abuja to assess the political situation, said that the walk-out protest by PDP senators during  the confirmation of Amaechi showed a collective stand against corruption.
While reiterating the party’s commitment to the unity of Nigeria and the development of the country’s democracy, the party said that the PDP had resolved to “vehemently resist” executive interfeering on others arms of government using the security agencies.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh stated this while briefing newsmen on the resolutions of the PDP National Caucus Meeting, held at late hours of Thursday.
Speaking on the confirmation of Amaechi’s nomination as minister despite allegations of corrupt practices, Metuh said the act was a clear indictment on APC and Buhari’s fight against corruption.

“We salute the courage and unity of purpose of our senators, especially as demonstrated in the Senate chamber on Thursday, in their collective stand against impunity and corruption in line with the wishes and aspirations of Nigerians,” he said.

According to the PDP spokesman  what the APC senators did on Thursday finally has put a death nail on their party`s “Presidential war against corruption”.
