The Anambra State government will, on Saturday, name its Women Development Centre after the late Professor Dora Akunyili in recognition of her contributions to the development of the state in particular and Nigeria in general.
This was contained in a statement issued in Awka, the state capital, on Friday, by Dr Uju Nwogu, the state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism.
She also said a memorial ceremony in honour of the late information minister would hold on Saturday.
Nwogu said that the ceremony would feature a Mass, a documentary on the life and times of Akunyili and tributes by the academia.
Dignitaries expected at the ceremony are representatives of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria and top governments functionaries.
She said that Governor Willie Obiano would also use the occasion to unveil the plaque symbolising the renaming of the women centre after the late professor.
