BUHARI ASSURES OSHIOMHOLE OF NEW ASSIGNMENT

Apparently in recognition of the developmental strides of the out-going governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday said the leadership of the All Progressives Congress would look for a place for the governor to continue to serve his fatherland.

Buhari who said Oshiomhole has performed creditably well expressed satisfaction with the governor despite the difficult economic challenges faced by the nation.

Speaking, yesterday, when he paid a courtesy visit to the Omo N’Oba Nedo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare 11 at the palace of the monarch in Benin the state capital as part of his two day official visit to Edo state, President Buhari praised Governor Adams Oshiomhole for developmental strides despite the economic challenges.

He also promised to look into some of the requests made by the Oba of Benin kingdom.

Earlier, Oba Ewuare 11 in his welcome speech lauded President Buhari for the efforts by his government in the drive towards reviving the country’s ailing economy and to improve the lives of the citizenry.

The monarch said the President’s “efforts to reposition the country to a respectful status within the comity of nations is well appreciated.”

He specifically expressed the support of the traditional institution for the federal government towards restoring peace and stability in the troubled areas of the country and the government’s resolve to fight corruption with great zeal aimed at bringing confidence in the polity.

Mr. President we support the efforts you are making to restore peace and stability in troubled

areas of the country which according to him has made a pronouncement of our self-recovery and the resolve to fight corruption in our great nation.”

While expressing appreciation for the various appointments made by the President Muhammadu Buahri’s administration which included worthy sons and daughters of Edo state into positions of authority, he also solicited for more federal government’s presence in the state even as he reiterated his earlier appeal to the government for more support in the dredging and transformation of the popular Gelegele Seaport into an import and export processing zone to boost the state’s agro-allied industry and her economy.
