HAJIYA Aisha Buhari, wife of the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, has said her husband would secure the mandate of Nigerians and win the Saturday’s election.
She home noted that though some people said Buhari is old, what was not in dispute, according to her, was the fact that the presidential candidate is medically fit.
Hajiya Buhari said some perceived political opponents had adjudged that her husband could not cope with the rigours associated with the office of the president, adding that those perceptions were diversionary and handiwork of mischief makers.
While addressing APC women supporters from Kaduna, Jigawa and Katsina, who had converged on Kano for a town hall meeting, held at the Coronation Hall of the Government House, Hajiya Buhari asked the women to vote Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) out of power.She said the PDP, since 1999, had only succeeded in impoverishing Nigerians, while charging the women to “vote for free health, education, stoppage to kidnapping and unwarranted killings.”
“We are not in Kano to campaign, but to say thanks. Kano is strategic in northern Nigeria, whoever you embrace politically is highly favoured,” she had told the women.
She averred that the First Lady, Mrs Patience Jonathan, had referred to the people of the state as Almajiris, adding that “I want to appeal to you women to come out en masse to cast your votes for APC, to prove that, so many of us are almajiris and we are large in numbers.”
While receiving Hajiya Buhari, Kano State governor, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, said the electorate in Kano had always been a pro-Buhari, while predicting that the APC presidential candidate would get 90 per cent of the total votes in Kano.
According to him, more than 80 per cent of people in the state had collected their permanent voter cards (PVCs), asserting that statistics released by INEC had shown that Kano had the highest number of voters in the country.
