CBN INVESTS N6.1BN IN ABU

Kaduna—The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN is investing about N6.1 billion in the Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Pustapha Abdulahi has said.
Abdulahi spoke yesterday, when the Good Governance Team, NGGT, visited the institution to inspect some projects.
He said that the money was being channelled into the construction of students’ hostels for both male and female students of Business Administration, Accountancy and Economics Departments.
The project, according to him, also included the construction of faculty blocks with 200 capacity bed space of five star standards.
He however, explained that the project which was expected to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the university started in 2009 as part of the corporate social responsibility, of the CBN adding that they would be ready by 2014.
“The project will improve teaching and learning in this university, with regards to post graduate students,” he said.
ABU is one of the six premier universities in the country which would benefit from the CBN intervention.
In his response, the Senior Personal Assistant to the Minister of Information, Mr. Kingsley Osadolor lauded the efforts of the CBN in upgrading the standards of infrastructure in the nation’s universities.
