FG CONDEMNS ATTACK ON NIGERIAN MISSION IN SENEGAL

Minister of Foreign Affairs,
Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru,has expressed displeasure over an attack on the
Chancery of the Nigerian Mission in Dakar,Senegal.
Some persons suspected to be Nigerians were said to have carried
out the attack on the embassy on March 4,2013.
According to a statement from the ministry, which was made
available to LEADERSHIP Weekend, the rioters smashed the mission’s windows and
cars, including the ambassador’s representational car and inflicted bodily
injuries on some officers of the mission.

The statement also said that the attackers, numbering in their
hundreds, gained entrance through the main gate and left behind an empty casket
in the premises.
Themission in Dakar when contacted said no life was lost, but
said the damage to the embassy was extensive.
As at the time of filing this report,no arrest had been made as
investigation into the immediate and remote causes of the attack is on-going.
