Governor
Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State has urged Nigerians to support the Federal
Government’s plan to completely remove fuel subsidy to enable state governments
get more funds to execute projects. He spoke while featuring on the state-owned
television, BATV, as part of activities marking the Democracy Day, stressing
that the plan to remove the subsidy was not meant to bring untold hardship on
Nigerians as it would increase monthly allocations to states from the
federation account. The governor said the monthly allocation of the state is
only 3.5 billion, insisting that the amount is insufficient for the government
to meet the yearnings and aspiration of the people, just as he added that the
delay in completion of some projects was due to dwindling resources.

be completed before the end of this year to open up development and boost
economic activities in the state, stressing that his administration is
committed to settling arrears of pensioners in the state and working hard
towards ensuring that Federal Government releases part of the funds for the
payment. On the internally generated revenue, the governor said the state
generates only N200 million as against the set target of over N1 billion and
attributed it to non-payment of taxes, urging people of the state to imbibe the
culture of paying taxes to enable government embark on more meaningful
projects.
