Any medical personnel in Kano State who clears a pregnant woman for the Hajj exercise would ne sacked, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, said at the weekend.

Ganduje gave the warning when he received chairman and members of the state Pilgrims Welfare Board and the state Hajj Tribunal, a statement by his director of communication and public affairs, Halilu Ibrahim Dantiye, said.
The governor said the warning was necessary because the state lost Hajj seats in the past due to health personnel clearing pregnant women for the exercise.
“The ban on pregnant women from performing Hajj was imposed because of the rigors of the religious exercise which can result in premature births and loss of lives,” the governor said.
He charged the state Hajj Tribunal, medical team and other committees to remain alive to their responsibilities.
In their remarks, chairmen of the state Pilgrims Welfare Board and the state Hajj Tribunal, Sheikh Abba Adam Koki and Chief Magistrate Abubakar Haruna Wakili respectively thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in them, assuring that they would sustain their commitment to public service.
