PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan, on Monday evening, declared that God would judge between him and those linking him with Boko Haram insurgent group in the country.
This was as he assured Nigerians that elections will hold on March 28 and April 11 as scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He stated these at a stakeholders’ meeting with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members from the North-East geopolitical zone, saying that his administration was determined to conduct free and fair elections by giving INEC free hand to operate within the ambit of law.
While saying that the military was doing everything possible to defeat the insurgent group, the president assured that insurgency would soon be a thing of the past in the country.
He, however, said God would judge between him and those people linking him with the Boko Haram insurgent group in the country.
Jonathan assured that his administration was already winning the war against insurgency in the North-East zone.He told members of the party that the Federal Government, under his leadership, had touched every sector in the country, calling on them to vote massively for all PDP candidates in the general election, with a view to sustaining the level of development being brought to the country by PDP.
“As a government, there is no sector we have not touched. We have done well in the health sector. Today, we have just commissioned a modern hospital in Bauchi State and we are working hard to ensure that all Nigerians benefit from our interventions in the education sector,” the president said.
“We have established universities in all the states that don’t have federal universities. Today, they have federal universities. We are committed to positive change and I urge you to vote for PDP for the sustenance of this change,” he said.
He implored Nigerians to hold on to their permanent voter cards, which he described as an important asset, while assuring of his commitment to one man one vote.
Also speaking at the meeting, the national chairman of PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, declared that the states of the North-East did not do well in elections, but assured that this time around, the people would surprise the president with their massive votes for the party at all levels.
