Ex-governor of Ekiti State ,Dr Kayode Fayemi, has denied that his government left N84 billion debt, explaining that he took only N25 billion bond from the capital market during his tenure.
Fayemi, clarified that N14 billion of the loan had been paid back, leaving a balance of N11 billion, and urged his successor, Mr Ayo Fayose, to study the hand-over note before passing comments on his predecessor.
In a telephone conversation with journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Friday, Fayemi’s Commissioner for Information, Mr Tayo Ekundayo, said: “Fayose should study the handing over note carefully before making unnecessary noise about the debt profile of Ekiti. I have been hearing them saying that the debt profile of Ekiti State now stands at N84 billion”
Meanwhile, Governor Fayose, at a Jum’at Service commemorating his inauguration in Ado Ekiti on Friday, insisted that the eight Permanent Secretaries appointed by Fayemi must be demoted despite the plea from the Chief Imam , Alhaji Jamiu Kewulere, to spare them. The Governor also justified the concept of stomach infrastructure and assured he was about institutionalising it in the State politics, adding its acceptability had brought him fame and admiration among the people.
Fayose while addressing the congregation, said “The Concept of Stomach Infrastructure of Fayose Administration will banish poverty and hunger from Ekiti . It has given me fame and acceptability among the people and this will remain as an integral part of this administration”.
The Governor had, however, appointed Mr Sunday Anifowose as Special Assistant on Special Duties and Stomach Infrastructure.

Lambasting Fayose for allegedly resorting to propaganda against Fayemi, Eundayo said:“I want to say that it is nothing near that figure .We have noticed that tendency in the past but we have refused to join issues with him .It is too early for Fayose to be talking about us. He should understand that there is difference between being a candidate of a party and executive of a state”.
Ekundayo hinted that over N14billion had been paid out of the N25billion advising the new governor to settle down for business of governance rather than engaging in ‘cheap propaganda.
“Fayose should know that he has assumed a new status now which is quite different from where he was before now .What I will advise him to do now is to settle down and see how he would improve on the legacies of Kayode Fayemi Administration”, the ex commissioner said.
Speaking further on stomach infrastructure , Fayose explained that : “Physical Infrastructure and urban renewal will continue to play its own role in the development of any nation. It is only the living who is hale and hearty that can enjoy such Infrastructure.
“Every policy of any administration that cannot put food on the table of the people is irrelevant. Stomach Infrastructure is not about food alone, it is also about the welfare of the people. Welfare of the people is also about health, provision of drugs, eradication of diseases, clothing and housing. All these are the basic essentials of life without which physical infrastructure will be meaningless”, Fayose declared.
