Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, yesterday said he would do all within his capacity to help the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) retain Bayelsa State in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
He also predicted that the party will reclaim Edo State from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next governorship election in the state. Okowa, who said he has hit the ground running in Delta State by targeting 50, 000 direct jobs within the first four years in office through empowerment programmes, said nothing would swerve his stance on Bayelsa and Edo polls.
He said besides working to ensure rapid infrastructural development in his state as encapsulated in his five-point SMART agenda, the governor pledged to be a factor to be reckoned with in the politics of the South-South and Nigeria at large.
Governor Okowa spoke when the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP in the South-South led by its Chairman, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, visited him in Asaba.
He said he would join forces with the sitting PDP government in Bayelsa to retain it for his party. He said: “I believe the South-South is PDP and will continue to be PDP, collectively, we will work to retain Bayelsa State and reclaim Edo State.”
