I’LL MAKE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY 2016 BUDGET OPEN – SARAKI

Date:

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki has pledged to make the 2016 National Assembly budget open and accessible to the general public.
Hitherto, the budget has over the years being shrouded in secrecy.
Our correspondent reports that there was public outcry when the National Assembly budget was even slashed from N150bn to N120bn.
In an interview with Channels TV, Saraki who is also the chairman of the National Assembly said every expenditure and receipt would be broken down into relevant budget heads for easy tracking.
“By the time we come to the 2016 budget at the end of the year, it will be even clearer because people just see one item line.
“But that is not going to happen now, you will see what goes to the Senate, what goes to the House of Reps, you are going to see what goes to management, what goes to Legislative Institute, we are going to make all these open and clear. That is part of the openness we promised,” he said.
