Empire star Jussie Smollett known as Jamal Lyon is quiting the popular Fox series. The actor made this known on his twitter account.
Before the revealation, the latest episode 17 titled “Rise by Sin”, where Jamal was shot by Freda Gathers had earlier generated suspence from fans as what could be the next action in the series.
In the episode, Freda found out what Lucious did to her father all thanks to a drunk Carol (Cookie’s sister). Freda attempted to shoot Lucious at the ASAs after she discovered he killed her father, Frank Gathers, but Jamal took the bullet for him.
Jussie Smolet plays Jamal Lyon, the middle gay son of hip-hop mogul Luscious Lyon played by Terrence Howard and his ex-wife Cookie (Taraji P. Henson).
The empire star revealed he would be focusing on making music and some new movies.
