Workers in the Lagos State Secre t a r i a t , Alausa, Ikeja yesterday watched with awe and consternation when a female Level 14 officer in the Ministry of Information and Strategy suddenly stripped naked in full glare of the people.
The officer was simply identified as Doyin. The Ministry was besieged by several onlookers and civil servants, many of whom were just resuming work when the incident occured. For hours, colleagues and sympathisers were seen standing and wondering what could have made a high ranking officer such as Doyin strip naked.
While many said the officer had been displaying signs of mental illness, eyewitnesses said the officer just came down from the five- storey building which houses the state ministries of Health, Information and Strategy and began to strip herself naked, while muttering incomprehensible words to the bewilderment of other civil servants.
A staffer at the state secretariat who did not want his name mentioned said:” The incident raised concerns amongs people that gathered to bundle the woman into one of the offices in the ministry before she was dressed up in her clothes.”
Efforts by our Correspondent to speak with her failed, as she put up a struggle and shouted at the top of her voice to be left alone. It was gathered that she had been suffering from Epilepsy, which many say could have worsened her condition.
Another civil servant, who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “She is a very nice and polite person. We are surprised she is putting up such strange behaviour . This is strange.”
