London Paralympics: Nigerian Wins Gold, Sets New World Record

Yakubu Adesokan has won the first gold medal for Nigeria in the on-going Paralympic Games in London. The 33 year-old did it in style by breaking the world record in the men’s 48 category by lifting 178 kg, which is over three times his body weight.

This news will make Nigerians heave a sigh of relief, as the team Nigeria, who participated in the just completed London Olympics had an abysmal performance.

London Paralympic Games which kicked off yesterday, 30 August and will end on 9 September, 2012, involving solely the disabled, have already started producing its expected sensation.
