A military fighter aircraft yesterday crashed near Yola, the Adamawa State capital, enroute a mission in Maiduguri.
The Chinese F7N1 jet crashed around 4pm, after flying out of the Yola airport.
Military sources said the pilot flying the sortie, died after ejecting the aircraft.
The sources said the accident was due to bad weather.
A said the crash occurred in northern part of the state, after two military aircraft the left Yola International Airport for operation in Sambisa.
He said only one of the jets returned in the evening, while the other was later confirmed to have crashed due to bad weather.
“There is no details but I can confirm that the jet crashed this evening around the border in northern part of Adamawa”,
The source added that the jets were returning from routine operation in Sambisa forest when one of them crashed around the border with Borno and Cameroon in northern part of Adamawa.
Attempt to contact the Nigerian Air Force authorities in Yola were not successful as at the time of filing this report.

Nigerian military have stepped up air strikes against Boko Haram positions in Sambisa forest in the North-East region.
Meanwhile, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) yesterday confirmed the crash in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
When contacted last night, the Defence Spokesman Colonel Rabe Abubakar, confirmed the crash.
He added that details of the crash would be made available soon.
