Sokoto state governor, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, yesterday alleged receiving a threatening text message from the National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), for his comment against the recent invasion of the National Assembly by the Police.
He added that the threatening message had further confirmed that some elements are bent to run down the nation democracy at all cost.
The governor spoke in Sokoto during a stakeholders’ meeting convened for the members of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Wamakko insisted his comments over the ways and manners the presidency is using the Police hierarchy against the office of the Speaker, House of Representatives still stands, which according to him must be condemned by all sundry.
He maintained that the action of the Police was the highest level of immorality, which was capable of tarnishing the image and integrity of the country in the eyes of international community.
Wamakko noted that in a normal society, both the NSA and the Inspector-General of Police would resign their appointment because, according to him, they have failed Nigerians.
He alleged that the duo were only doing the bidding of President Jonathan rather than protecting the interest of the common man.
The governor also added that the Police ought to protect democracy not to be used in sabotaging it. “I must tell you that NSA, Col Sambo Dasuki sent a text message to me and expressed his dismay over my comment in an interview. He emphasised that I will hear from him. I do not fear man but Almighty Allah. To me it is nothing but an empty threat”. Wamakko revealed.
Speaking further: “We are not afraid of anybody because we have Allah by our side and with him we assured of all protection.”
Efforts by Peoples Daily to get the reaction of the office of the NSA did not yield any positive result as at the time of filing this report.
The parley was attended by the Speaker, House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and other Governorship aspirants, party stakeholders among others to brainstorm on the forthcoming party primaries in the state.
