NCDC Announces 378 New Covid-19 Cases In Lagos

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Saturday announced 378 new coronavirus cases in Lagos State.

 

According to the NCDC, Nigeria recorded its highest daily figure of confirmed coronavirus cases with 553 new infections.

 

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 9,855, among whom 2,856 patients have been treated and discharged.

 

Data released on Saturday showed that the 553 new infections were recorded across 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with Lagos accounting for the highest number of 378 infections.

 

It said, “On the 30th of May 2020, 553 new confirmed cases and 12 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.

 

“No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.

 

“Till date, 9855 cases have been confirmed, 2856 cases have been discharged and 273 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

 

“The 553 new cases are reported from 15 states – Lagos (378), FCT (52), Delta (23), Edo (22), Rivers (14), Ogun (13), Kaduna (12), Kano (nine), Borno (seven), Katsina (six), Jigawa (five), Oyo (five), Yobe (three), Plateau (three), Osun (one).”

 

The Lagos State Government had earlier announced the recovery and discharge of 21 more coronavirus patients, who tested negative twice for the virus.

 

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said in a statement on Saturday that the figure brings to a total of 875 confirmed cases so far discharged from the isolation centres in the state.

 

He said, “21 COVID-19 Lagos patients – six females and 15 males – including a foreign national have been discharged from our isolation facilities to reunite with society.

 

“The patients – six from the Mainland infectious disease hospital, Yaba, 11 from Onikan, three from Agidingbi and one from Gbagada isolation centres – were discharged today having fully recovered and tested negative to COVID-19.”
