OSHIOMHOLE REVERSE APPOINTMENT OF TWO PERM-SEC DESIGNATES AT SWEARING- IN CEREMONY OVER LATENESS

Date:

Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole yesterday reversed the appointments of two Permanent Secretaries for coming late to their swearing-in ceremony.
The late comers, both of them women, arrived the venue while the oaths were already being administered on their colleagues. One is a Director in the Ministry of Justice while the other is in the Ministry of Education.
They were expected to have been seated at 12 noon for the swearing-in ceremony which was billed for 1pm with other 18 perm-secs designate but when the Governor arrived at 12.23pm, the two were not there.
Oshiomhole refused to swear them in, saying, “Your punishment is that you will return to your offices as Directors and be sworn-in with the next batch of Permanent Secretaries.” Appeals from functionaries fell on deaf ears.
The governor said he wondered what time the two directors get to work if they could arrive late for their own swearing-in.
