The embattled deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has advised the party’s national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun to stop what he called “desperation to expel him”.
Frank, in a statement Thursday, threatened to sue Odigie- Oyegun for contempt of court, following Wednesday’s remarks by the APC deputy national secretary, Oji Ngofa, that Frank had technically expelled himself for taking the party to court.
Ngofa, who briefed journalists after an emergency National Working Committee (NWC) meeting, said Frank’s decision contravened section 13(5) of the party’s constitution which states that anybody that drags the party (APC) to court shall be expelled.
He also added that the NWC had accepted the recommendations of the zonal committee, But in a swift response , challenged Chief Odigie-Oyegun and his alleged loyalists in the NWC to publish the minutes of the meeting where the decision to suspend him was taken.
He said he had asked his lawyer to sue the National Chairman for contempt of court, adding that “any attempt to suspend or expel him from APC will break the party.”
He challenged the APC national chairman to convene a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting to determine who will be thrown out of APC.
He said he took the party to court after he had exuasted all the known internal mechanisms to get justice for his constitutional rights.
Frank added that he remained a loyal member of the APC, stating that he will definitely abide by whatever is the outcome of the court.
A five-man disciplinary committee constituted by the South-South zonal leadership of the APC recommended the suspension and subsequent expulsion of Frank.
The party’s South-South national vice chairman, Prince Hilliard Eta, later announced that the Zonal Executive Committee (ZEC) had suspended Frank from the party in line with Article 1 (d) and (f) of its constitution.
Frank, thereafter, sued the APC over his suspension and the move to expel him.
