internet. According to the cleric, some unscrupulous elements are using his
name to defraud unsuspecting social media users.
The cleric said, “Please be
very careful of what you easily fall for. There are some persons going around
creating false Facebook pages or names, claiming they are Pastor E. A. Adeboye.
All you have to do is a search for them on Facebook and they will add you and
then pretend to be me, telling you to send some money into an account and
because they know you will obey me, they are using this as a new form of fraud.
Please stop them and report those pages to Facebook so they can be stopped.”
He also told of a member of the
church who had reported to him on how he had been ordered by an impostor to pay
certain sums of money into a bank account for a trip to India.

About a couple of weeks ago,
information hit the media about how Pastor Adeboye had instructed the faithful
not to put on any attire with red colour on a particular day, a rumour which
was later denied by the revered pastor.

“It seems some people just take
delight in causing unnecessary tension. While using the social media for fraud
and other illicit activities cannot be excused, users of the social media too
have to be very careful,” the cleric urged.
