PDP Asks For Full Disclosure On Buhari’s ‘Technical Stopover’ In London

Date:

Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday asked for full disclosure about President Muhammadu Buhari’s “technical stop-over” in London.

“President Buhari left the U.S after his visit with President Donald Trump on Tuesday and he is yet to arrive in the country.

“To explain his absence, his media unit revealed that the President had stopped over in London for technical reasons,” the party said.

The opposition party in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, shared on its verified Twitter handle, “@Mbuhari Technical Stop Over In London: We charge the Presidency to end their official secrecy and come clear on the reasons for President Muhammadu Buhari’s alleged ‘technical stopover’ in London.

“We invite Nigerians to note that @MBuhari left the United States 48 hours ago and embarked on an unofficial visit to United Kingdom for undisclosed reasons without transmitting a letter to the National Assembly. This is impunity and another constitutional breach

“MBuhari had, on Tuesday, left the United States, where he had an embarrassing and fruitless outing and instead of returning to the country, detoured to the UK for another private visit without regard to full disclosure requirements of our constitution and laws.

“The Aso Rock must understand that President @MBuhari is not a private citizen and as long as his upkeep and itinerary is sourced from our hard-earned resources, there must be full disclosure, as citizens deserve to know the purpose of the visit and the cost to our nation,” the statement said.
