Issele-Uku, the ancestral throne of Oligbo Kingdom and the seat of headship of Ezechime Clan in Aniocha North LGA of Delta State was a beehive of activities today, as the Crown Prince, HRM Engr. Nduka Ezeagwuna officially and customarily took a wife from the home of a clergy, Rev. Sammy Sunday Ejiogwu of Ogboli Quarters, same community to fulfill all righteousness leading to his traditional ascension to the throne of his fathers.
The royalty who appeared clad in his white royal robe exhumed aura and sanctity that even the rain honoured his presence. His marriage will eternally remain remarkable, because the entire community and guest witnesses indeed experienced something unique and could only symbolize authority and power.
It was a day to remember. It was a day that has witnessed one of the largest single gatherings of the people of Issele-Uku to celebrate. In fact, it was a carnival of sort; our sons and daughters from all over the world had come to get involved in this once in a life time experience.
The cake-cutting session of the newly married couple was eventful. The royal procession from inside the in-law’s house to the stage was a remarkable one, as monarchs from other communities escorted the incoming king and queen mother to cut the cake for a lasting union. Cutting the cake with the couple were the Obi of Obior, former Aniocha North LGA Chairman, Hon. Jaunty Okwudi, the current one, Hon. Chunks Oseme, the Crown Prince’s mother, Queen Faith Ezeagwuna; while a host of others watched on.
Of course it was blessings all the way. From the house of the Regent of Issele-Uku, Prince Dominick Egbune where the royal marriage trail began, to the house of the in-laws where another doze of blessing was given by the ordained of God father-in-law to the Crown Prince.
Indeed, it was a Royal Marriage laced with a touch of class. Of course, all manners of continental and local dishes were prepared for the enjoyment of visitors. Also in a festival like manner, the music group of Onyeabor Nwa Sadilo and the Olimgba group delivered a scintillating and reverberating entertaining performances.
Some of the dignitaries who graced the royal occasion were: Obi of Onicha-Ugbo, Obi of Ubulu-Uno, Obi of Obior, Obi of Ogodor, Chief Ike Odoe (Oji-Oba of Oligbo Kingdom), Barr. C.M. Ashibuogwu (IDU National President), Mr. Onyeisi Mokogwu (IPYA National President), Prof. J.N. Mokwunyei, Prof. Patrick Osiegbu, Chief Jaunty Okwudi, Mr. Uche Agwodiugbo, Mr. Pius Kogos, Prince Akeh, Prince Nwaba, Chief Marshal Okwudili (NURTW Chairman), Retired PS Nwaodua, delegation from Abuja, Lagos, Benin, Asaba and others too numerous to mention.
