Sulaiman Usman, a lawyer, has become the first indigenous and resident lawyer to rise to the position of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria in the history of Sokoto State.
He was among 29 others appointed by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee and announced by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Hadizatu Mustapha, last Thursday.
Currently the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, the 46-year-old SAN has been in the legal practice since 2000.
Usman graduated from the Usman Danfodio University Sokoto in 1998 and enrolled at the Nigerian Law School between 1999 and 2000 when he was called to the Nigerian Bar.
He also holds a Master’s of Law from the University of Liverpool.
