STOP USING BROOM TO SETTLE SCORES – AIG ADVISES APC

Date:

Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 1, Alhaji Tambari Yabo Muhammad, has advised members of the All Peoples Congress (APC) in Kano state to stop using broom to sweep venues being used for campaign by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the much-awaited May 17, 2014, local government councils’ election.
Speaking when the newly elected executive council members of the APC paid him a courtesy call, Muhammad said adopting such a posture was like stirring a hornet’s nest.
He said: “Anytime you rushed to a campaign venue used by the PDP to sweep it means you are provoking members of the party to react, the next thing one would hear is trouble which could lead to unnecessary bloodshed. We wouldn’t want a situation where by the relative peace people enjoy is breached without any justifiable premise.”
He said using abusive language against certain political opponent is also capable of inciting chaos, adding that it “is the responsibility of the police to nip every crisis in the bud before it goes out of hand.”
Speaking earlier, the newly elected chairman of the APC in Kano, Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa, pledged to ensure that a peaceful election was conducted and assured the AIG that APC as an embodiment of peace would play its game, according to the rules.
