The ailing Governor of Taraba State, Mr. Danbaba Danfulani Suntai, is to return to the United Kingdom for further medical treatment. The Governor who is expected to depart the country today, November 2, will be accompanied by his wife, his personal physician, some family members and other personal aides.
According to reliable sources close to the state government, arrangements for the trip have been completed. The state government, the sources said, is footing the entire costs of the trip which includes a chartered flight to the U.K, the cost of his hospitalisation and accommodation for all members of his entourage.
The state Acting Governor, Alhaji Garba Umar, approved all the logistical requirements for the trip and ordered that everything must be done to ensure that the Governor gets the best treatment in the United Kingdom.
Governor Suntai was involved in a plane crash in which he was the pilot in October 2012 near Yola Airport in Adamawa State. Since then he has been in and out of hospitals in Germany, the United States and the U.K. His most recent medical destination was the U.K from where he returned to the country on September 13.
Following his return, a five-man medical panel was set up to determine the true state of his health. The decision became a subject of litigation making it difficult for the panel to conclude its work. All of Governor Suntai’s previous medical trips and treatments overseas were also paid for fully by the Taraba State government.
