The Super Eagles of Nigeria moved up 10 places in the latest FIFA/Coca Cola ranking of national teams, moving from 61st last month, to 51st this month.
The Eagles defeating the Desert Foxes of Algeria 3-1 in a Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier in Uyo must have been the catalyst for the latest upward movement in the ranking.
On the world stage, Argentina is still ranked the number one team in world football, closely followed by Brazil. Germany, Chille, Belgium, Colombia, France, Portugal, Uruguay, and Spain make up the rest of the top 10.
Senegal are still the highest ranked team in Africa, closely followed by the current African champions, Cote D’Ivoire, Tunisia, Egypt and Algeria to make up the top five ranked teams in Africa.
The Super Eagles are currently ranked as the eighth best team in Africa.
