The voting pattern in Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections across the country showed a close race between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in some states, while there were wide margins between the two parties in several other states across geo-polical zones. Early results from some polling units also showed a lot of surprises as some prominent politicians could not deliver their polling units and in some cases, wards to their respective parties. Counting was ongoing in several polling units in the early hours on Sunday.
In Kano, Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau, PDP gubernatorial candidate, Salihu Sagir Takai, Senator Bashir Lado, and Presidential aide, Hajia Baraka Sani, could not deliver their Kawaji ward as APC won the presidential and National Assembly elections there. In the presidential election, APC scored 514 while PDP got 15 votes. APC got 442 votes in the Senatorial election while PDP got 84. In the House of Representatives election in the ward, APC got 474 while PDP got 47. Also, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali, lost his polling unit to APC. While PDP scored 18, APC scored 137 in his polling unit in Nasarawa local government. In Race Course polling unit 067, APC scored 292 votes, PDP got 13, while in Hotoro South Ward 6, APC scored 249, PDP 6. It was also gathered last night that Governor Rabiu Kwakwanso was in early lead in his constituency in Madobi local government where he is contesting for Kano Central Senatorial District.
In Gidan Ja’oje Ward Gidan Kara in Wamakko local government area of Sokoto State, Governor Wamakko‘s ward, APC won the presidential election recording 534 votes as against PDP’s 6 votes. The party also recorded 524 votes in the Senatorial election while PDP got 9 votes. In that same ward, APC got 513 votes in the House of Representatives election while PDP got 13.
In Edo State, President Jonathan was clearly leading his APC rival Gen. Buhari. PDP was leading in Edo South and Edo Central Senatorial Districts. In Edo North Senatorial District, home to Governor Adams Oshiomhole, APC and PDP were running neck-to-neck. Collation of results was ongoing in the early hours of Sunday.
In APC, candidate Muhammadu Buhari’s Sarikin-Yara polling unit in Katsina state, APC scored 499 votes while PDP scored 0 in the presidential election.
Three votes were voided. For the Senate at that polling unit, APC got 478, PDP 18, PDM 3, while three votes were voided. APC scored 500, PDP scored 1, and APGA 1 in the House of Representatives election in that polling unit.
Vice President Namadi Sambo also delivered his new polling unit, Swimming Pool Road/ Police Gate (011) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Presidential and National Assembly election.
The presiding officer of the polling station, Mr. Olorunfemi Raphael, who announced the result said the PDP polled 105 in the presidential election in the polling unit while APC polled 20 votes.
Although Sambo’s polling unit used to be at the Camp road polling unit 5, no reason was given for his decision to vote at the Swimming Pool Road/ Police Gate (011) polling unit.
He was initially expected to vote at Camp Road polling unit 6, but it was later moved to the Police gate where he and his wife, Amina voted.
In Bayelsa State, results from Nembe Ward 3, unit 4 are as follow: Presidency: APC 1, APA 1, ACPN 1, PDP 44; House of Representatives: APC 3, PDP 39, void votes 5, Senate: APC 15, PDP 32. According to reports from the two polling units in the precincts of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, APC candidate for the Amac/Bwari Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives defeated his PDP rival. In the polling Unit 021, the APC candidate scored 255 votes against the 254 polled by the PDP flag bearer. The results were collated late in the night. At polling unit 022, the APC candidate got 334 votes against the 241 polled by the PDP candidate.
In Zamfara State, at Rumfar Malam Isa polling unit in Talata Mafara local government area, which Zamfara Governor Abdulaziz Yari polling unit, APC got 398 in the senatorial election PDP 67, while in the House of Representatives election, APC got 369, PDP 55. Counting of the presidential poll in the unit was ongoing at the time of filling this report.
Results from some polling units in Akure, Ondo State capital showed that APC scored more votes than PDP. However, Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko won in his own unit. Former Legal Adviser of the PDP, Chief Olusola Oke also delivered his Ilowo Ward in Ilaje Local Government for the party. The results from the governor’s Ward Z Unit 20 showed that the PDP scored 179 in the presidential election while APC scored 111 votes. In the Senatorial Election, PDP scored 179 while APC scored 109 just as PDP scored 177 in the House of Representatives ballot and APC 103 votes.
In some of the results from units in Akure, the headqurters of Akure South, APC was leading last night. In Ward 2 Unit 10 Akure South, APC scored 126 votes in the presidential poll while PDP scored 84. In the Senate Poll APC scored 131 and PDP 77 just as APC scored 122 votes in the House of Representatives and PDP scored 81 votes. In Unit 9 Ward 2 also in Akure South, APC scored165 in the presidential poll and PDP 120 votes. In the Senate poll, APC scored 163, PDP scored 124. While APC scored 152 in House of Representatives and PDP 119.
In Unit 6 1 and 4 Akure South, APC had 99 in Presidential Poll, PDP 65. In the Senate, APC had 109, PDP 59. APC scored 88 and PDP 66 in the House of Representatives poll in that polling unit.
At Unit 20 1 and 10 Isolo Junction, Akure, APC had 100 votes in the presidential election and PDP 79. For the Senate, APC 107 and PDP 79. For the House of Representatives, APC had 100 votes, while got PDP 38.
In Lagos, result showed that APC won in former Governor Bola Tinubu’s Alausa polling station 047 scoring 180 votes while PDP got 55. In Surulere ward G-3 polling station, Governor Babatunde Fashola’s polling unit, APC got 317 while PDP got 135. PDP gubernatorial flagbearer, Jimi Agbaje, could not deliver his polling unit to the president as APC scored 126 while PDP scored 60.
In Bariga polling station 064, APC 145, PDP 122; Ikeja polling unit 003 APC 67, PDP 58; in Ikeja polling unit 003, APC 49, PDP 39; Alausa polling unit 037 APC 82.

In Ogun Ward 11, Unit 23 in Itaeko, the polling unit of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, APC scored 100, PDP 16.
Former governor Gbenga Daniel however delivered his Isote, Shagamu polling unit to PDP as the party recorded 160 against APC’s 74 in the presidential election.
In Ajagbe High School polling unit, Iperu, PDP won the presidential election, scoring 99 votes as against APC’s 34. It also scored 94 in the senatorial election while APC scored 35. In the House of Representatives election in that unit, PDP scored 120, APC 12.
In Salvation Primary School polling unit also in Iperu, PDP scored 366 while APC scored 154 in the presidential election. In the senatorial election, PDP scored 330, APC 188 while in the election into the House of Representatives, APC scored 91, PDP 419.
