U.S. Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump has threatened to cancel his one billion dollar planned investments in golf courses in Scotland, if Britain slammed him with a travel ban.

He said on Friday in Massachusetts that the British lawmakers were planning to hold a debate on a petition signed by over half a million people calling for him to be barred from the country after his proposal to stop Muslims entering the U.S.

A source said the debate would be held on January18 but would not be followed by a vote.

The source said further that it was only Home Secretary, Theresa May, who could issue an order banning entry into Britain.

The source added that Prime Minister David Cameron has said he does not favour barring Trump, reports Reuters.

Meanwhile, the Trump Organisation said in a statement that a ban would result in him pulling developments worth 500 million pounds at a golf complex in northeastern Scotland.

They added that it would also affect the 200 million pound revamp at a resort in the country’s southwest.

The group warned in a statement that any action to restrict travel would force them to immediately end these and all future investments they are currently contemplating in the U.S.

Trump’s comments on banning Muslims from entering the U.S. in December prompted international outrage and led to him being stripped of two Scottish honorary positions.
