A Ugandan maid caught on video beating a toddler has been sentenced to four years in jail by a Chief Magistrate court judge in Kampala.
22 year-old, Jolly Tumuhiirwe, pleaded guilty to the crime of assault last week during her appearance before Chief Magistrate Lillian Bucyana.
Ms. Tumuhiirwe was captured on CCTV as she tortured 18-month-old child. Arnella Kamanzi in her father’s home in Naalya suburb on Kampala in November. The video uploaded by the baby’s father went viral and led to global outrage against the barbaric act of the housemaid.
