Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide has vowed to retaliate the attack on the convoy of President Goodluck Jonathan by supposed supporters of the candidate for the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, during his campaign in Katsina State.
In a statement made yesterday by its spokesperson, Eric Omare, it said the violence clearly shows the violent-prone and irresponsible nature of some of Buhari’s supporters.
It also recalled the burning of the campaign buses of President Jonathan by supporters of Buhari in Jos, Plateau State, last week.
IYC said, “We express our disappointment in Buhari for instigating his supporters to attack President Jonathan’s convoy in his home state of Katsina. Buhari has clearly breached the Abuja Accord and demonstrated his violent nature.
“It will be recalled that when Buhari came to the South-South to campaign, especially in Bayelsa State, Jonathan specifically instructed that everything should be done to ensure that Buhari’s campaign was not disrupted in any way in the zone.
“Hence, the IYC made several radio announcements and setup a team at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, to ensure that the campaign was trouble-free.
“Now that Buhari’s supporters with his knowledge have decided to carry out consistent attacks on President Jonathan and his supporters, we wish to state clearly that we shall retaliate.”
The IYC called on Jonathan’s supporters all over the country to be ready to defend and retaliate any attack on them by Buhari’s supporters.
It said the experience of 2011 where several supporters of President Jonathan were killed without provocation must not be allowed to repeat itself.
The group claimed that Buhari was preparing the ground for the fulfillment of his promise that the “blood of the baboons and monkeys” would flow in anticipation of his impending defeat on February 14, 2015 presidential election.
“We are ready and will give an eye for an eye this time around,” the IYC boasted.
